What is Graduation Prep Day? Is it mandatory?

Graduation Prep Day is a one stop shop to meet all your Graduation needs and also to receive important information regarding the ceremony. Typically, the event lasts for approximately six hours. You may stay for however long you’d like, but you are not required to stay the entire time. All graduates are strongly encouraged to attend, as it is your opportunity to select the size for your cap and gown, verify the name on your diploma and your address with the Registrar, take professional Graduation photos, and order announcements.

Campus offices that are typically in attendance include the Registrar, Career Services, the Alumni Association, and the Office of Financial Aid. Campus Federal Credit Union has also attended the event in past semesters.

Is it required to attend Graduation Prep Day from start to finish?

The event typically lasts for 5-6 hours. Graduates are not required to attend the event the entire time, but are definitely encouraged to visit as many stations as possible.

What do I need to bring with me to Graduation Prep Day?

If you choose to order Graduation announcements on this day, be prepared to pay in full. Balfour accepts credit card payments only.

If you plan to take Graduation photos, please come prepared as far as hair and makeup, if you so choose. The University will provide sample regalia for each student to wear over his or her clothes for the photos.

All other Graduation information and materials will be given to you upon arrival.

What is the expected attire for Graduation Prep Day?

There is no expected attire for this event. If you will be taking Graduation photos, please come prepared as far as hair and makeup, if you so choose.

Can I order Graduation pictures at Graduation Prep Day?

Yes, Lifetouch Photography will be in attendance to take an official portrait of each graduate, if you so choose. Lifetouch will mail your proofs directly to you, which you will then have the option to purchase.

All graduates will receive a letter outlining Graduation Prep Day several weeks before the event, and also included in the letter will be a Lifetouch price sheet for photo packages.

Can I order Graduation announcements at Graduation Prep Day?

Yes, representatives from Balfour will be in attendance to assist students with ordering announcements. Please note that Balfour accepts credit card payments only.

Graduation Announcements and Photography

Personalized Graduation Announcements provided by Balfour.

A representative from Balfour will be in attendance at Graduation Prep Day to assist graduates with ordering announcements. Please note that Balfour accepts credit card payments only. Following Grad Prep Day, you will be able to order Graduation announcements online through Balfour's website.

Professional Graduation Portraits provided by Lifetouch Photography.

At Graduation Prep Day, each graduate will have the opportunity to take a professional portrait, in full regalia, with Lifetouch Photography. These proofs will be mailed to you directly from Lifetouch, which you will then have the option to purchase.

On Graduation Day, Lifetouch Photography will take a picture of each graduate as you receive your diploma from the University President. In addition, an official portrait of each graduate will be taken in front of a green screen as you step off of the stage. The photographer will provide you with several background choices for this picture when your proofs are mailed to you at a later date. Proofs of the photographs taken on Graduation Day will be mailed to you directly from Lifetouch, which you will then have the option to purchase.

Cannot attend Graduation Prep Day?

Here's your Graduation To-Do List:
  • Submit Intent to Graduate form
  • Attend the Career Fair (applicable in Spring semesters only)
  • Verify the information on your Diploma (via Registrar's office)
  • Pay your Graduation Fee (via Bursar's office)
  • Complete Financial Aid's Exit Survey
  • Pick up your Cap and Gown from the Receptionist Desk in the Admin. Building
    • Thursday, November 7: anytime between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.
    • Friday, November 8: anytime between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.
  • Attend your pinning ceremony
    • School of Health Professions and School of Arts & Sciences Pinning Ceremony: Friday, December 13, Time and Location TBD
    • School of Nursing Pinning Ceremony: Friday, December 13, Time and Location TBD
  • Attend Graduation ceremony
    • Saturday, December 14 at 10 a.m. at the Raising Cane's River Center Exhibition Hall
